What would happen if Iraq attacked Iran today?
There has been scaattered discussion of Shiite Arab terrorism aginst the regime inside Iran. The context is that Iran is actually a Persian country and the Arabs want to rejoin their Shiite brothers as part of Iraq.
Now, we have Iraqi Officials officially looking to blame Iran for the recent Golden mosque bombing (e.g. here).
When Saddam attacked Iran in 1979, Iran's Arabs stayed loyal because being Shiite in Iraq sucked worse than being Arab under the Ayatollahs. Now it looks like life is better in Iraq.
And then the remaining question is whose army is better. The US trained and equipped army of Iraq or the religious army of Iran.
I would bet on Iraq's (especially with US support).
If Iran escalates to nukes, then it becomes international open season on them....
If Iran loses its Arabs and the Shaat Al Arab waterway in their territory, its regime is also probably finished.
Perhaps that is the coming end-game? Soon?

1-Shiya cannot destroy their own holy sites.. so Iran didnt do that..

Your crazy. So crazy to claim Americans bombed the mosque. That is so stupid, people like you refuse to be open to any possiblity except that America is to blame for everything. When the Americans try to avoid even scratching the paint from mosques in Iraq, do you recognize this? Oh no! You can't do that because then you might be thinking with your own brain instead of spewing out the hatred that you get in parts of the muslim circles. The truth is obvious, the terrorists are trying to sabotage the peace between Sunni and Shia to cause a war that will drive the Americans out. The question is, what will happen to Iraq when the Americans do leave? Do you think it will be better for the Sunni or Kurds? HA! No, the result will be an onslaught by the Persian Shia from Iran and they will dominate the Arabs in Iraq even worse then Saddam did. And I for one, no longer care. I don't beleive it is worth the life of one more American Soldier to protect the filthy scum in Iraq who do not appreciate what the American Soldier has attempted to help with. I say bring the American Soldiers home, and let the Persians, Arabs, Kurds, Sunni and Shia kill each other untill they are satisfied, they seem to be most happy when the are cutting each other's throats anyway. So as an American I say, bring the troops home to America and let these people kill each other because I do not care one little bit!

nope. a shia-controlled iraq will not invade iran. wishful thinking on your part, alex. iran is going to control iraq post civil war.
and 'Perhaps that is the coming end-game? Soon?' sounds like more seriously wishful thinking, no? whatever happened to 'we will be in iraq for thirty years'?

surprise josh: according to the PNAC, we're about to get a hundred more armies next turn, and will soon take persia, ukraine, siberia, irkutsk, kamchatka and japan.
